The B 990 includes a meticulously engineered extended freearm with 14" (356 mm) of space to the right of the needle and the Giant Embroidery Hoop (16.1" x 12"), providing you with ample space for big, beautiful sewing, quilting and embroidery projects.
With the new BERNINA Placement Scanner and Camera, you can scan the embroidery hoop, and view the needle area on the screen in sewing and embroidery. This allows you to precisely position your designs and stitches. Scan to preview how your designs, the chosen thread color and size will look like when stitched.
Also, you can transfer the scanned background to the optional BERNINA Embroidery Software 9.
The Automatic Needle Threader helps you get started with a different thread. Sewing and embroidery needles from size 70 can be automatically threaded. Get started with a different thread, faster than ever before.
Enjoy pinpoint precision by seeing exactly where the needle will enter the fabric in every needle position. The BERNINA Pinpoint Laser marks your start and travel points as you sew and embroider.
Simply attach the included BERNINA 5.5 mm BISR Stitch Plate with Sensor, and the quilting foot of your choice to achieve perfect quilting stitches with the exact same length at variable sewing speeds. Automatic stitch regulation is now possible with all quilting applications including Ruler Work, thanks to the innovative BERNINA Integrated Stitch Regulator (BISR).
The B 990 automatically recognizes the stitch plate once it is attached to the machine. If the stitch plate is not
compatible with the selected stitch pattern, needle or presser foot the machine will not sew as an additional
security measure.
With a touch, the B 990 transforms your design into a stitch pattern or alters existing stitches as you wish. Resize any stitch from 25% to 500% with the new Jumbo Stitch. Undo and redo steps in sewing and with the Stitch Designer create your own stitches by drawing your ideas right on the touch screen.
In the Help Center, you will find frequently requested instructions and information, the user manual and Creative Consultant for various techniques. You can even connect the Help Center to your personal device (tablet or smartphone) with WiFi connectivity by simply scanning the QR code on screen.
With the new Giant Hoop and the extra large 16.1" x 12" embroidery field, you will be able to embroider a full 12-inch square. Thanks to the ergonomic twist lock closure, hooping and re-hooping is easy. The inner markings of the hoop and template allow you to easily align a 12-inch square.
Organize your stitch patterns with the File Manager: Save, name, and store new or adjusted stitch patterns and combinations in your personal folder. Easily create, move, copy and paste files and folder to keep your stitches and embroidery designs organized with the File Manager. Name your adjusted stitch patterns and combinations and move entire folders of designs from a USB straight to your folder on the machine.
Pinpoint Placement with 2-Point and 4-Point placement options allows you to easily place designs with utmost precision. Simply define four points on the fabric with the new 4-Point Placement and morph or proportionally fit the design to the area. Use Virtual Positioning to verify exact stitch points for ultimate precision.
The new Customizable Quilt Designs bring the functionality of professional longarm quilting to your embroidery machine. Unlimited scaling possibilities, the ability to modify the stitches per inch (SPI) and enhanced quilt securing functions enable you to achieve perfect computerized quilting on your embroidery machine.
Since WiFi is enabled on the BERNINA 990, you can transfer designs from your BERNINA Embroidery Software 9 (optional) directly to the machine, or vice versa. And thanks to the BERNINA Stitchout App, the embroidery process can be monitored on your smartphone remotely. The in-app notifications and real-time status updates will make your embroidery more convenient.
